Cutting-edge Lighting for “The Living Depot” at the GAM
The reopening of the second floor of the Galleria d’Arte Moderna (GAM) after six years marks an innovative turning point in the museum landscape, thanks to the setup of the project “The Living Depot”. This exhibition, curated by Chiara Bertola and Fabio Cafagna, hosts a rich artistic heritage: paintings, drawings, and sculptures, arranged on modular shelving provided by Metalsistem Piemonte of Trofarello, grids, and packing crates, in a continuous process of transformation.
Rimani is proud to have provided the lighting for this ambitious project, integrating cutting-edge technological solutions with an aesthetic that echoes the industrial character of the setup.
Our lighting systems, based on linear design lamps and off-the-shelf components, have been skillfully integrated along the exhibition walls and near the metal shelving, helping to define an atmosphere that contrasts with the traditional museum environment of the GAM.
The lighting created by Rimani allowed to emphasize the materiality of the exhibited objects and to enhance the architectural details of the environment, such as the bush-hammered concrete pillars, freed from years of finishing interventions.
The system, designed to ensure flexibility and dynamic control, enabled optimal lighting, capable of adapting to the continuous transformations of the setup.
In parallel, in the foyer of the GAM, the organization of the ticket office and cloakroom has been streamlined with new custom wooden furnishings, in contrast with historical elements such as the bench designed by BBPR for 1993.
With “The Living Depot”, the GAM not only brings to light long-hidden works but also celebrates the meeting of modernity and tradition, thanks to lighting that has been fundamental in narrating this journey of cultural rebirth.
