Rimani and the lighting concept for Ristorante FATA, where light interprets material and architecture

Rimani develops the lighting concept for Ristorante FATA in Triuggio, in the heart of Brianza. The project, by architect Simone Riva, interprets light as an integral part of the architecture, transforming it into a tool capable of enhancing spaces, materials, and the customer experience.

Project concept

Ristorante FATA by architect Simone Riva comes to life inside a former elementary school, reclaiming a place rich in memory, already known as the home of the historic restaurant “La Zuccona”.

The concept draws inspiration from nature, from matter, materials in their natural state, minerals, rocks, earth, water. The name itself, FATA, evokes the four natural elements Fire, Air, Earth, Water, translated into an essential and material architectural language.

The resin flooring rises up the walls transforming into sandy surfaces, while deep fissures evoke the energy of fire, revealing mineral and metallic inserts. A material minimalism made of essential forms, artisanal textures, and pure volumes.

Light as an extension of architecture

In this context, the lighting project developed by Rimani emerges as a natural continuation of the architecture.

The intervention does not simply illuminate the spaces correctly, but interprets the architecture, emphasizing its surfaces, volumes, and materials. The light reveals the textures of the walls, enhances the material fissures, and highlights the mineral elements, building a discreet yet richly evocative visual journey. The balance between diffused light and focused accents generates an intimate and sophisticated atmosphere, designed to accompany the gastronomic experience without ever overwhelming it. The light sources, completely integrated into the architecture, disappear from view, allowing the light itself to define the spaces.

Warm color temperatures and rigorous glare control ensure visual comfort and contribute to creating that intimate and sophisticated atmosphere characteristic of fine dining environments, where visual well-being plays a decisive role in the customer experience.

Special attention was devoted to the decorative lighting elements, conceived as true installations. The suspended minerals and luminous sculptures become scenic presences that strengthen the connection between design and nature, transforming raw material into precious elements almost suspended in time.

The light does not invade the space, but accompanies it with discretion. It reveals rather than displays, enhances without overwhelming, building a balance between technical precision, visual comfort, and emotion. A design approach that interprets lighting as an identity element, capable of giving depth to the architecture and amplifying the dialogue between design, material, and cuisine.

Rimani products used

For the project, the Polaris and Longitudinal lines were employed, alongside a series of custom special lighting elements developed to measure to meet the specific requirements of the architectural concept.

Polaris is a versatile recessed solution, capable of adapting naturally to the characteristics of any environment. Three lighting bodies of different sizes and power integrate with a range of frames varying in proportions and aesthetics that offer trim, trimless, or adjustable configurations. The frames remain flush with the ceiling, ensuring a discreet and refined installation. For this project, an exclusive custom finish was also developed, designed to integrate perfectly with the material language of the interiors.

Longitudinal is a linear LED fixture with high color rendering, just 20mm in diameter, designed for applications where diffused light must meet quality requirements, such as on frescoes and paintings in general, on walls and vaults. In Ristorante FATA it contributes to enhancing the architectural surfaces with uniform and controlled light.

To complete the intervention, Rimani developed a series of custom lighting elements, designed specifically to integrate with the restaurant’s concept. The suspension with crystal element incorporates a Solar 40 module, while the luminous pole extending from floor to ceiling incorporates a Solar 100. Both solutions were designed as scenic elements capable of dialoguing with the architecture and natural materials, contributing to building a coherent language between light, design, and matter. These elements were also realized with a custom finish developed specifically for the project, in aesthetic continuity with the Polaris lighting bodies.

With the Ristorante FATA project, RIMANI confirms its ability to develop custom lighting solutions also for the Ho.Re.Ca. sector, transforming light into a design tool capable of creating atmospheres, enhancing architecture, and contributing decisively to people’s experience.
