Nostalgia Futuro: the collaboration with architect Luca Remigio continues
Nostalgia Futuro, presented during the Milan Design Week from April 15 to 21, 2024, is a collaborative project between architect Luca Remigio of Remigio Architects and illustrator Jacopo Ascari of Atelier Ascari.
This immersive experience explores an alternative reality of Milan through illustrated installations and designer furnishings, offering a sensory journey that blends images, scents, and sounds.
The project explores unrealized architectural visions for Milan, showcasing iconic unfinished projects alongside futuristic possibilities.
It tells the story of a child entering a suspended city full of melancholy and hope, meeting a woman from the 1950s whose vibrant presence symbolizes monumentalism, community spirit, and confidence in the future.
Remigio Architects has transformed the studio into a monumental monolith adorned with Ascari’s illustrations. The installation uses sustainable materials such as aluminum frames and recycled fabric, reflecting the themes of environmental awareness present in Remigio’s projects.
Inside the studio, the exhibition continues with Ascari’s detailed iron figures and Remigio’s Soixante-deux furniture collection, characterized by modular designs based on the number 62, offering versatility and luxury inspired by Italian design.
The collection includes Tête-à-tête, a two-seater armchair with a matching ottoman, featuring recycled aluminum frames and upholstery decorated with Ascari’s illustrations.
Librairie, a bookshelf, combines aluminum and oak wood, while Meuble, a console, showcases a sophisticated interplay of aluminum and dark wood.
These furnishings are presented within domestic environments, integrated into Ascari’s illustrations, creating a complete living environment. Visitors are guided through the exhibition with audio tracks produced in collaboration with eArs and Mondadori Audiolibri, enhancing the multisensory experience.
Nostalgia Futuro embodies the ethos of Remigio Architects of customization, exclusivity, and contemporary design, while Jacopo Ascari’s journey from freelance illustrator to founder of Atelier Ascari reflects his passion for depicting urban landscapes and beauty in a maximalist style.
The creation of the three furnishings sees collaboration with the company Bottega del Falegname for the wooden structure, while the lighting that highlights the product is entrusted to Rimani’s products.
