The setup of the exhibition “Marinali and Bassano” at the Civic Museum of Bassano del Grappa represented a significant opportunity to review and optimize the entire lighting system of the museum, ensuring an optimal presentation of the exhibited works while providing flexibility and sustainability.
The goal was to provide lighting suitable for the diverse needs of the works on display, ranging from the drawing collection to archival photography and small-scale statuary. To ensure accurate and targeted lighting, it was necessary to employ projectors equipped with advanced and versatile optics.
The use of projectors with magnetic and self-centering secondary optics allowed the light to be adapted to the various sizes and types of exhibited works. Thanks to this system, the same device could be used in different modes: from the super-spot 4° optics for illuminating the smallest objects with surgical precision, to circular optics with variable opening angles (10°, 17°, 25°, 36°, or 60°) for more general uses, to geometrizing optics (10°x25°, 10°x36°, or 10°x60°) ideal for uniformly illuminating works displayed along the walls without glare.
A further step forward was made with the adoption of a wireless Bluetooth management system, which made it possible to control the lighting system efficiently and sustainably. This approach not only contributed to the preservation of the artworks by minimizing exposure to UV rays and heat generated by light sources, but also optimized the museum’s operating costs, ensuring reduced energy consumption and greater flexibility in adapting the lighting to the specific needs of each exhibition.
Thanks to these innovative and cutting-edge solutions, the Civic Museum of Bassano del Grappa was able to offer its visitors an engaging and high-quality museum experience, enhancing the exhibited works and ensuring their integrity over time.
