The monumental architecture and the artistic richness covering the interior surfaces (from the frescoes on the counter-facade to the canvases in the side chapels, up to the gold leaf decorations of the ceilings) required the use of solutions with significant luminous flux and high color rendering (Ra-98/R9-98), as well as an extreme versatility of optical systems capable of adapting the projection from fixed and recurring points to illuminate ever-changing objects. The interior is very vast in plan and offers the visitor various decorations by artists belonging to the Tuscan, Roman, and Emilian schools.
On the counter-facade, there is a fresco by Luca Giordano (1684, the expulsion of the merchants from the temple). Luca Giordano, Guido Reni, Pietro da Cortona are just a few of the great names of the artists who participated in the decorative enterprise of the temple, making it a unique example of harmony and richness, and making the monument a fundamental stop on the Baroque itineraries of the city.
