Light and sacred art: the new lighting of the Church of San Maurizio in Incudine.
The Church of San Maurizio in Incudine, consecrated in 1820, represents a precious example of sacred architecture. Comprising a single nave with side chapels and an elegant rectangular presbytery, it houses artworks of great value. Among these are the altarpiece of the Martyrdom of San Maurizio by Giacomo Bormini (17th century), the bas-relief from the Fantoni workshop featuring Saints Carlo, Antonio da Padova, and Antonio Abate, and the main altar by Giovan Battista Zotti (1701).
The recent lighting intervention aimed to enhance the architecture and artworks while ensuring lighting suitable for liturgical functions. The assembly lighting is provided by 3000K LED Meccano projectors with interchangeable lenses, positioned along the cornice for discreet and uniform illumination. Behind them, linear LED Longitudinal strips gently illuminate the vaults, harmoniously integrating with the architecture without being intrusive.
The liturgical areas, such as the altar, ambo, and seat, are illuminated with projectors of extremely high color rendering (Ra-98/R9-98) and high-efficiency optics (4° and 8°), capable of highlighting every detail. The same technology has been used for the artworks, from frescoes to sculptural elements, ensuring a diffuse and enveloping light, capable of precisely highlighting surfaces and reliefs.
Thanks to this intervention, the Church of San Maurizio shines with a new light, capable of making the experience of the faithful and visitors even more immersive and evocative.
